Minimally invasive, nonsurgical facial rejuvenation treatments are an effective way to reverse the signs of aging and take years off of your appearance. dr LASER offers a wide range of dermal fillers that can achieve long-lasting, youthful-looking results. One of our most popular fillers is Juvederm.
Juvederm is the softest of the hyaluronic acid fillers and is derived from a natural substance which is found throughout the human body. Since it is so similar to your own tissue, there is no need for a sensitivity test.
What is Juvederm used for?
Juvederm is a minimally invasive method of treating facial wrinkles and lines. Juvederm is a dermal filler that is made of hyaluronic acid. While it is used primarily for wrinkles around the mouth, nose, chin, Juvederm is also used to augment thin lips.
Juvederm can be used to address a variety of aesthetic concerns, including:
- Lip borders, vertical lip lines and wrinkles
- Corners of the mouth (drooping corners are uplifted)
- Superficial forehead lines and crow’s feet
- Thinning lips (for increased volume – referred to as lip augmentation)
- Deep folds on the sides of the mouth (nasolabial folds)
- Marionette lines -Earlobes
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Naturally prevalent in younger skin, hyaluronic acid slows the breakdown of collagen. It also attracts water, so hydration is maintained and skin is firm and supple. During the aging process, depletion of hyaluronic acid causes the skin to wrinkle.
How Does Juvederm Work?
Juvederm is injected directly into the dermis below the treatment area, where it works almost immediately to plump up skin, lessen wrinkles and provide a smoother, younger appearance.*
How Long Does it Take?
Juvederm treatment is usually complete within 30 minutes, so it is perfect for those with time constraints.*
Topical Anesthetic Available
Available with or without lidocaine, Juvederm treatment does not require additional anesthesia, but a topical anesthetic may be used to minimize discomfort for those with a low pain tolerance.
Juvederm Recovery Time
Juvederm treatment is a non-invasive procedure, so recovery time is minimal. Following Juvederm® treatment, patients should avoid alcoholic beverages, intense heat and strenuous activity for at least 24 hours. After that time, patients can resume all normal activities.*
Juvederm Side Effects
Some temporary swelling, redness, itching or bruising may be evident at the injection sites, but they usually subside within seven days. Your skin care specialist will explain all possible side effects prior to performing the procedure.*
What Preparation is Required?
To minimize bruising or bleeding, patients are advised to forgo aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory drugs for at least one week prior to Juvederm treatment.
How Long Does Juvederm Treatment Last?
Juvederm is made of natural ingredients, so it is eventually absorbed by the body. Juvederm treatment usually lasts up to a year, so treatment must be repeated periodically to maintain a wrinkle-free effect.*
