As we become older, our bodies ability to produce collagen and elastin decreases. These substances are responsible for helping us keep a young, plump, fresh look. With lack of collagen and elastin comes loss of volume in the face. Dermal fillers work by adding volume to the affected areas. Dermal fillers are used to fill creases, folds, age lines and even acne or surgery scars.

  • Gives a subtle lift.
  • Help restore contour for up to 2 years.
  • Take years off your appearance.
  • Are minimally invasive (nonsurgical) with almost no downtime.
  • Contain skin-friendly modified hyaluronic acid.

The main advantage of a dermal filler treatment is that changes are obtained subtly, with consecutive sessions. This enables the treated areas to increase volume while still maintaining a natural looking appearance. Dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with wrinkle injections in personalised treatment plans for optimum results. The dermal fillers we have available include:

  • Juvederm
  • Restylane
  • Voluma
  • Radiesse
  • Belotero
  • Sculptra
  • Kybella

Your clinic manager and an RN will walk you through a consultation and go over what the treatment will entail as well as what filler they think is best and areas of injection. Your nurse will then map out points of injection on the face and begin the procedure. You may experience swelling and in some cases light bruising but this is very normal. Your RN or clinic manager will then go over post care with you and schedule your follow up appointment before you leave.

What areas can dermal fillers be used for?

Dermal filler are used to replace volume loss and restore structural support, giving you a more youthful appearance. The goal is to make the face appear more harmonious and rejuvenated.  Popular areas for dermal fillers are the lips; to improve shape, size and symmetry. The cheeks may be injected to better contour the face and highlight the cheekbone making the face look more defined. An underdeveloped chin can benefit from dermal filler to appear more projected while the nasolabial folds are filled to add volume to the area and reduce fine lines.

How long do treatments take?

A dermal filler procedure typically lasts between 45 and 60 minutes. Results are seen immediately after the treatment while gradually improving over the following 2-4 weeks as swelling reduces. Results can last between 9-18 months although optimal results can be maintained over a long period of time through regular follow up appointments and touch-up’s when necessary.

Will I experience any Side Effects?

Dermal fillers have advanced greatly since the first-generation of collagen injections and our trained staff of Registered Nurses  is of the highest quality. Advanced injection techniques and improved product safety means that long term side effects are extremely uncommon but short term side effects may include:

  • Injection- related reactions such as redness or swelling at the injection site immediately following your treatment./li>
  • Bruising- Occasionally bruising can occur. We recommend icing the area of injection immediately following your treatment to dramatically reduce the risk of bruising.
Are there any after- care instructions?

After your treatment your RN will go through any after care instructions with you to maximise your treatment benefits and avoid any undesirable side effects. You can resume normal activities, drive yourself home or return to work immediately after your treatment. It is important to know that the results seen after the treatment should not be seen as your final results. Over the next 2 weeks swelling will decrease and results will gradually improve. For two weeks after the treatment you are advised to avoid extreme heat, sunbeds, sunbathing or intense cold.
